TYPE OF POSITION: Part-time (.8), 2010-2011 school year; salary commensurate with experience and education
LOCATION: Hopkins, Middle & High Schools - Hopkinton, Massachusetts
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified candidates
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered qualified for this position, candidates must have the following:
1. Licensed, or eligible for licensure in assigned grades by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education;
2. Meets all Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education standards for Highly Qualified Teacher;
3. Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred, from an accredited college or university, in a related field;
4. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults;
5. Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies;
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements.

Part-Time Pianist/Organist
Diverse, liberal/progressive religious church (Unitarian Universalist) seeks versatile accompanist/pianist/organist to work Thursday evening rehearsals, Sunday morning rehearsals and two Sunday morning worship services for a vibrant mid-sized congregation. Job requires proficiency at both piano and organ and at accompanying both choir and vocal or instrumental soloists. Salary will be commensurate with education, experience and skill. Hours:14 hrs/week, with Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings a requirement. Work year: 40-week work year, September - June. Please see detailed job description at www.uureading.org. .9 Elementary Music Classroom Teacher - Starting 2/22/2010

Reporting directly to the Building Principal and Department Head where applicable with indirect report to the Superintendent as the appointing authority and to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools.
Position Responsibilities:
- Teaches Music/Band to Elementary School students.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the
students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the
maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepares for classes assigned
- Sets and maintains standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony
with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to
communicate these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
- Implements by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and
instructional goals and objectives.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress
reports as required.
- Seeks the assistance of district specialists as required regarding diagnosing students
learning disabilities.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials
and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and
administrative regulation.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life
and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and
procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related
purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and,
cooperatively with department heads, contributes to the evaluation their job performance.
- Continues with personal professional development
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications & Physical Demands:
Must be highly qualified to teach Elementary level Music by DESE licensure standards.
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess a high level of
capability with technology.
Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, assist the principal in fire
and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy
